I have been operating my self-contained accommodation at Creekside Cottages since December, 2003. A Sydneysider by birth, I first visited Armidale in 1987, and then moved here permanently in the early 2000s.
Armidale has always appealed to me as a very unique country town, with its combination of arts culture, historic pastoral connections and significant Indigenous heritage, set within the spectacular New England gorge country.
I have channelled the appeal of Armidale into the creation of a rustic and truly ‘New English’ atmosphere for Creekside Cottages; a retreat in a quiet country garden, with easy access to all that Armidale offers.

As your host and the owner of Creekside Cottages, I am the person who will be answering your calls, greeting you on arrival, and providing whatever help I may to ensure that your visit to Armidale, and your stay at Creekside Cottages, is exactly what you wish for.

Creekside’s Gardens
My garden is my passion. I enjoy the challenges of the ‘four seasons’ which a New England climate has to offer, and the garden is constantly evolving.
It is designed to create a number of smaller contained gardens, or garden ‘rooms,’ providing privacy for guests and my own household, as well as contributing to the horticultural diversity of the property.
Over the past few years, a vegetable garden has been added, as well as some useful compost for our chickens! We produce delicious eggs and vegetables, and I enjoy taking advantage of Armidale’s local farmers’ markets and variety of local organic stores.
I am also very keen on cycling, especially the opportunity to explore the number of quiet country roads that meander throughout the landscape of the New England region.
Over the years I have discovered a number of cycling routes that allow me to enjoy the region in all seasons while providing terrific exercise and a visit to a great cafe at the end.
There’s so much to do and see around Armidale and the New England Region. I’m very happy to share my passion for gardening, bicycling and sustainable living.

Plan your stay
Half-way between Sydney and Brisbane, on the high tablelands of the Great Dividing Range, Armidale is the perfect stop-off for a visit to NSW’s extraordinary high country, otherwise known as “the New England”.

Touring by bicycle
Whether you’re visiting for a weekend or longer, getting around Armidale by bicycle is not only healthy and economical, it’s fun and safe. Armidale has an extensive network of bicycle paths and lanes, which enable visitors to roam widely and at will.
Creekside can provide two hybrid-style bikes that are appropriate for both sealed and gravel roads. The bikes will be free of charge for guests to use for short local rides, however, a fee will apply for longer rides. The bikes are a size that will suit most people but for guests who prefer to hire, we recommend Bike Central.
